Alternative to Google Analytics
Also replaces Plausible, Fathom
Website visits, sources, campaigns and goals without cookies.
Vane is cookie-free website analytics that runs in your own account. Add one script to your site to count page loads, sources, campaigns and goal conversions, then export or restore your history. MIT licensed.
What it does
- Register a site with the pages, goals and campaigns you want counted
- Add one script tag to your website
- See page loads, sources, campaigns, goals and a week-on-week comparison
- Choose a sampling rate and require visitor consent
- Move in history from Umami v2 and undo it
- Export and restore full analytics history
- Erase history or apply a retention window of 30, 90 or 365 days
- Let an administrator or agent prepare changes while the owner approves
What it promises
- No cookies or browser storage are used, and Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected.
- No IP address, user agent, visitor ID or full page address is stored.
- Counts are what was actually seen, never estimated or scaled up.
- Visits mean accepted page loads, not unique people, and reloads count again.
- Administrators prepare changes, only the owner approves, and the person and time are recorded.
- Imports show a preview with no changes, keep a journal and can be undone.
- Old backups are refused if a later deletion has been recorded.
- Deleting history also removes any imported copies.
