Alternative to JobTread
Also replaces Buildertrend, Procore
Quotes, site diaries, variations and progress claims for builders.
Plinth is project management for a small residential builder. It covers accepted quotes, scheduled trades, site diaries, client-approved variations, supplier orders and progress claims. It is MIT licensed and your data stays in your own installation.
What it does
- Create a job, prepare a quote and record how the client accepted it
- Book trades without double booking, even across jobs
- Publish a daily site diary with photos
- Invite the client to approve each variation at its exact amount and scope
- Prepare and issue supplier purchase orders and record deliveries
- Approve and export a progress claim as CSV and a full reconciliation
- Let an agent prepare drafts while people approve
- Move in accepted jobs from a CSV, and back up, restore or erase a job
What it promises
- Every action checks who is signed in; owners and admins manage jobs, and clients see only their own job.
- A client approves variations themselves; a manager cannot approve on the client's behalf.
- Approvals are tied to the exact terms at the time, and an accepted quote stays fixed.
- Money is kept in whole Australian cents, and progress claims reserve their position so they cannot overlap.
- Agent credentials can prepare drafts only; people make the approvals.
- A trade cannot be booked twice for overlapping times.
- Moving in jobs shows a dry run, keeps a journal and can be undone, while your own edits survive.
- Erasing a job also removes its photos and import records, and a later archive stops older backups bringing it back.
- Plinth does not send orders, pay anyone, calculate tax or prepare statutory payment claims.
