Pier

What it does

• Define items with barcodes, units and pack sizes, and warehouse bins
• Keep supplier terms such as price, minimum order and lead time
• Take sales orders and reserve stock, showing backorders for unmet demand
• Draft and approve supplier purchase orders
• Receive purchases in part into named bins
• Transfer stock between locations through a transit location
• Dispatch part of an order and handle returns through quarantine
• Reconcile physical counts, trace any balance, and import opening stock from its own CSV format

What it promises

• A new installation starts empty; you enter or review your real data.
• Stock changes are only ever added as movements; corrections are linked compensating movements, never edits.
• Available stock is sellable stock minus reservations; quarantine, transit and expected receipts are never sellable.
• Pier never reserves the same unit twice or allows negative sellable stock.
• An approval names the exact quantities, supplier, price and promise date, and a change makes it unusable until approved again.
• Retrying a command returns its original result instead of doing it twice.
• A returned item goes to quarantine and becomes sellable only after a separately reviewed restock.
• If stock moves after a count is taken, the old count cannot overwrite it.
• The whole installation can be exported and restored into a fresh one without posting opening stock twice.

• Pier's own CSV format (no other tool's export is supported yet)

Run it yourself

Install the command once, then clone a product and start it.

No npm? curl -fsSL https://runeditrun.com/install.sh | sh installs the same command.
