Nook

What it does

• Talk in private channels, fixed-person direct messages and threads
• Record decisions with a full revision history
• Ask a teammate to take something on, in the thread, where only they can accept it
• Share files up to 25 MB each, kept private
• Mute or follow conversations and set quiet time; mark a message urgent when it cannot wait
• Opt in to email and phone push notifications
• Back up everything to one file and restore it later
• Invite teammates by email with owner, admin and guest roles

What it promises

• NOOK-001Every action checks who you are and whether you are in that conversation; workspace admins cannot read other people's direct messages.
• NOOK-003Removing someone from a channel cuts their reading, writing and search access immediately. New members can see a channel's whole history, and Nook says so.
• NOOK-004A request becomes accepted only through the person it was assigned to, and a completed item is reported as completed, never as verified.
• NOOK-010If a request's wording, owner or deadline materially changes, the assignee must accept the new version again.
• NOOK-013Muting hides routine updates but never an explicit mention or a request to you, and an urgent request still shows during quiet time.
• NOOK-014Email is off for everyone until they turn it on, goes only to your own sign-in address, and covers only mentions, urgent requests and commitments.
• NOOK-012Attachments are kept private and are checked for membership on every download; only text, PNG, JPEG and PDF files are accepted, and there is no virus scanning.
• NOOK-007Message text is shown as plain text, with no plug-ins, link fetching or AI effects.
• NOOK-009Backups include every conversation, decision, file and attention choice with integrity checks, and leave out live sign-ins.
• ERASURE-001Owners and admins can erase messages and members, but never the last owner, and never through a door into private direct messages.

Run it yourself

Install the command once, then clone a product and start it.
