Easel

What it does

• Plan revenue, hiring, expenses and cash for the next twelve months
• Bring in actual results from a ledger CSV and reconcile every month
• Bring in an existing Excel budget as a scenario and compare it
• Ask each department to submit its budget, then approve and lock it
• Branch a downside scenario and compare it with the plan
• Let contributors suggest changes that finance can accept or decline
• Close each month and see actual versus budget with the rows behind every variance
• Publish a review pack, downloadable as HTML or CSV

What it promises

• EASEL-006Every number shows the arithmetic behind it; money is kept in whole cents and rounding is consistent.
• EASEL-010Approving the budget freezes it with a permanent record of exactly what was approved, by whom and when.
• EASEL-007Individual salaries and positions are visible only to finance and that department's contributors; the server removes the detail for everyone else.
• EASEL-003Actuals are accepted only when every account and department is mapped and the reviewed preview still matches.
• EASEL-004An accepted actuals import can be undone exactly, unless a forecast month has already been closed.
• EASEL-012A proposal is promoted only at the exact revision reviewed and only if the plan has not changed since.
• EASEL-013Closing a month first keeps the forecast as it stood, so you can always compare against it.
• EASEL-014A published review pack is permanent and every member, including viewers, can download it.
• EASEL-016A full export restores the same model, approvals and packs into an empty installation of the same release.
