Alternative to Cliniko
Bookings, intake forms, private notes and invoices for small clinics.
Balm is for an Australian physio, psychology or podiatry clinic with 1 to 10 practitioners. It handles online bookings, intake forms, private treatment notes and invoices, and keeps your clinic's records in your own account with every access to a client file logged. It does no Medicare, DVA, NDIS or health-fund claiming.
What it does
- Let new clients book online from each practitioner's real open times
- Send each client a private link to fill in the intake form once
- Let practitioners write treatment notes that only they and the owner can read, with every amendment kept
- Prepare, approve and number invoices that download as the same file every time, and record payments received elsewhere
- Show the owner a log of who opened each client file, read notes or intake answers, changed something or downloaded an invoice
- Give reception, practitioners and the owner different access, and cut off someone's access at once
- Let an assistant prepare invoices, reminder text and intake form versions for a person to approve
- Back up and restore the whole clinic
What it promises
- BALM-001Every page and request checks who is signed in and what their role allows; practitioners see only clients they are booked with, and reception never sees intake answers or treatment notes.
- BALM-001An assistant's key can only prepare invoices, reminder text and intake form versions; a person must approve each one, and the approval records exactly what was approved.
- BALM-001Removing a staff member's access or cancelling an assistant key takes effect on the very next request.
- Treatment notes can be read only by their author and the owner, and an amendment adds a new revision instead of overwriting the old one.
- A booking slot that is already taken or invalid is refused, even if two people try at once.
- Invoices are numbered and fixed only when a person approves them, and a payment reference can be recorded only once and cannot exceed the invoice.
- The access log is append-only and holds no client personal details; every opening of a file, read of notes or intake answers, change and download is added to it.
- Balm claims no Medicare, health-fund or other claiming, and no tested compatibility with real patient exports; keep real patient data out until your clinic has done its own privacy review.
